Cost-effective Stone Mastic Asphalt with superior durability
Duramastic is a Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) that sets itself apart from conventional asphalt due to its superior quality and durability. It incorporates a single stone size with an increased quantity of high-grade bitumen, fibre, lime, filler and specialised blended additives, resulting in a robust product with exceptional performance properties.
Duramastic is also particularly cost-effective due to its comparatively low cost-per-metre and long life cycle, making it a favourite among city councils, many of which have used Duramastic to completely transform their road network strategy.
Versatile
Duramastic can be used for any and all paving purposes. It can be laid as thin as 15mm (on a flat surface) and as thick as 50mm.
Stronger & More Durable
Duramastic is made from a single stone size of six millimetres (rather than a distribution of graded stone sizes) and a binder composed of a mastic created from cellulose fibres, filler and lime. The mastic fills the voids between the stone-on-stone packing skeleton, providing greater resistance to rutting while maintaining very high flexibility compared to conventional asphalt.
Duramastic offers long-term crack resistance in pavements prone to reflective cracking as a result of environmental factors, and can significantly extend a fatigued road’s life where conventional overlay may provide merely a short-term solution
Exceptional Cost-Savings
With the use of a very small nominal stone size, Duramastic can be placed thinner than conventional asphalt treatments, significantly lowering the cost-per-metre and thereby allowing for a far greater road area to be resurfaced each year. A thin lift Duramastic surface closely competes in cost with a large stone chip seal, and Duramastic overlays may provide extra time for councils to allocate funding for road reconstruction works.
Increased Safety
Along with Asphaltech’s premium product, Duragrip, Duramastic offers superior skid resistance to that of conventional asphalt, particularly on high speed roads where higher texture depth is important.
Reduced Noise
As a result of its smooth surface, Duramastic reduces the amount of noise produced from tyre contact on the road.
