100% Recycled Cold Emulsion Asphalt

High-performance asphalt that’s gentle on the planet

Asphaltech’s award-winning 100% Recycled Cold Emulsion Asphalt (100% RCEA) combines reclaimed asphalt pavement material (RAP) and the base material from excavated roads with other recycled building materials and a specialised bitumen emulsion.

The result is an ultra-resilient asphalt that’s up to seven times stronger than conventional unbound pavement material, ideal for paving as a base course, deep-lift or full-depth layer, as well as a wearing course layer.

100% RCEA has been the asphalt of choice on a variety of major roads, highways, car parks, industrial hardstands and even cycle paths throughout various Australian metropolitan areas.

Better for the environment

100% RCEA is made from 100% recycled material. It uses 53% less energy than conventional hot-mixed asphalt and produces 54% less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional hot mixed asphalt. It can be infinitely recycled (with no reduction in strength or effectiveness), and can incorporate a variety of recyclable materials such as road base and crushed concrete, preserving diminishing aggregate resources and preventing failed pavements from becoming landfill.

Safer

Being cold-mixed, 100% RCEA is safer to produce, pave and work with than any other asphalt or foamed bitumen stabilisation, eliminating the risks associated with heated processes in warm and hot-mixed asphalts, and using a hot bitumen coupling hose.

Stronger

100% RCEA achieves a resilient modulus of 3500MPa, boasting at least the equivalent of, if not a higher strength than, conventional hot mix. 100% RCEA is also up to seven times stronger than conventional unbound pavement material, as proven by ongoing structural pavement testing.

More Cost-Effective

RCEA can reduce road rehabilitation costs by up to 30% in comparison to conventional hot-mixed asphalt, saving communities and local councils money

More Reliable

Asphaltech uses its high-production capacity central mixing plant to produce RCEA, ensuring quality control and eliminating any variation in the mix production process
