After 30 years of operating in the Perth metro area, Asphaltech has expanded its footprint by opening a new permanent Asphalt facility in Bunbury, allowing the company to service the state’s burgeoning South West.
The new fixed-asphalt plant will produce Asphaltech’s range of high-quality road surfacing products for the region, and is complimented by the company’s expertise in asphalt installation, road profiling, maintenance, upgrades and civil construction works.
By expanding its operations, Asphaltech can now service clients from Bunbury and Collie in the north down to Albany in the south and all locations in between.
Wasting no time, Asphaltech has already completed a number of projects in the area including for the Shire of Harvey as well as the Southwest Gateway Alliance for the Bunbury Outer Ring Road.

Offering Innovative Asphalt Products for the South West
Since being founded in 1994, Asphaltech has forged a reputation for producing innovative asphalt products through an extensive research and development program. These include:
- Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA), which is safer – with greater skid-resistant qualities – more durable and longer-lasting than traditional asphalts.
- Gravelmix / Oxide asphalt mix, which offers exceptional strength – double that of conventional asphalt mixes – and the aesthetic appeal of red laterite stone.
- The award-winning 100% Recycled Cold Emulsion Asphalt (RCEA), which integrates road pavement base materials and RAP from old roads.
These innovative products are already resonating with clients in the South West, including the Shire of Harvey, which utilised Asphaltech’s unique SMA (produced using BASALT aggregate). This is the first time this innovative product has been used in the region.
The project consisted of upgrading 400 metres of Wier Road including in-house milling with Asphaltech’s latest 2m Wirtgen profiler followed by the supply and installation of a 5mm SMA bottom layer and 7mm wearing course.

Building better roads for the South West
As part of its service offering, Asphaltech can also carry out pavement investigations and assist with proposed treatments for roads to be re-surfaced.
This provides customers with added value and confidence that Asphaltech can manage a project from start to finish, with a holistic view underpinned by solid engineering principles.
